  • Fabian Johnson missed Borussia Monchengladbach’s last two games, a 2-1 league game against Paderborn last Saturday and a 1-1 Europa League draw with FC Zurich on Thursday, due to a minor Achilles tendon strain. He returned and started in Sunday’s Bundesliga fixture against Mainz, logging an assist in the 1-1 draw.

  • Jonathan Spector will be out for at least three months with a torn thigh muscle. Spector picked up the injury in the final minute of Birmingham City’s 2-1 loss to Fulham on Saturday and a scan during the week revealed the full extent of the damage. Blues manager Lee Clark described the injury as very similar to the one Spector picked up last season, except on the opposite side.

  • Sheanon Williams played no part in the Philadelphia Union’s 1-1 draw against the Chicago Fire on Thursday due to a late quad injury.

  • Real Salt Lake defender Tony Beltran remains questionable for Sunday’s match against Chivas USA. Beltran twisted his back in training and has since missed one league game for the side.

  • Reading’s Danny Williams was back to training in boots on Wednesday and posted a photo of it on Instagram. On Friday Royals manager Nigel Adkins told the Reading Post that Williams has not yet joined in team training and “still has weeks to go.”
  • D.C. United winger Chris Rolfe should see some game time before the close of the regular season. On Friday head coach Ben Olsen told the Washington Post this: “I am optimistic. We are going to push it. It’s his arm. What does he need his arm for? ... I will take a 95 percent Chris Rolfe any day of the week.”

  • AZ Alkmaar’s Aron Johannsson Tweeted photos of his return to training on Tuesday. The striker underwent a groin operation before the start of the season and has yet to feature for AZ under new manager John van den Brom. The team next hosts FC Twente on Sunday. Here’s the Tweet:
  • Houston Dynamo forward Will Bruin returned to training on Tuesday, after what he described as a frustrating four games out with a right mid-foot sprain. He was not able to make the game-day lineup in the 1-0 loss to the Red Bulls.

  • Chris Schuler is back to 100 percent from his adductor tightness, the Salt Lake Tribune reported this week. The defender was an unused sub in the team’s 2-0 friendly win against the USL Pro-champion Sacramento Republic and should be back in the side that faces Chivas USA this Sunday. A win or a tie will give the RSL its seventh-straight playoff berth.

  • Julian Green was back in full training for Hamburg on Monday. Green picked up a rib injury in training last week and missed out on two league defeats to Gladbach and Eintracht Frankfurt. Green did not suit up against Borussia Dortmund on Saturday.

  • Geoff Cameron did not make the matchday 18 for Stoke City’s clash with Sunderland on Saturday, which Sunderland won 3-1. Cameron has now missed all seven of the Potter’s league fixtures this season after undergoing a hernia operation.

  • Montreal Impact midfielder Justin Mapp saw action for the first time since mid-August against the Chicago Fire on Sunday. Mapp reintegrated into training last week after previously being sidelined with a groin injury.
