WHEN UNITED STATES national team winger Joe Gyau was forced out in the first half of Friday's 1-1 draw with Ecuador, it looked bad. Fortunately, Gyau has received a bit of good news during an examination conducted on Saturday.

After the game, Gyau underwent preliminary tests that suggested that the injury was not ACL related. Sources told ASN that another series of tests on Saturday confirmed that the injury was "not ACL" and that he would probably miss "four weeks max."

Gyau will return to Germany on Sunday, where he will be reevaluated by Borussia Dortmund officials

Over the summer, Gyau signed with Borussia Dortmund after playing the 2013-14 season with Hoffenheim—where he made his Bundesliga debut in April. This year he has already made two appearances for Borussia Dortmund's first team.

Gyau earned his first cap for the United States national team last month in September in a 1-0 win over the Czech Republic in Prague. With two caps now under his belt, more will be known in the coming days and weeks whether or not he will be fit enough for the November international window when the United States will face Ireland in Dublin and—reportedly—Croatia in London.
