THE FINAL INTERNATIONAL WINDOW of 2015 is now upon us, and the past weekend featured a decent showing by American players in Europe. While some of the top headlines in this department in recent years have centered around the return of top American players to MLS, a growing new contingent of Americans abroad appears to be emerging.

Cameron returns, adds to Chelsea’s woes

Geoff Cameron was injured two weeks ago in Stoke City’s 2-0 loss to Watford, forced out of the game in just the 9th minute with a strained quadriceps. Fortunately for him, the injury was not serious, and he returned to the bench this past weekend for Stoke City’s home game against a struggling Chelsea side.

The Massachusetts native came on in the 71st minute with Stoke City up 1-0 and played in a defensive-midfield role. While it was clear that the position was not overly familiar to him, Cameron did enough to help preserve the scoreline and ensure that Chelsea’s surprisingly miserable season—16th place!— would continue.

Wood is Good—Again

Set to join the United States national team this week for the start of World Cup qualifying, Bobby Wood will arrive in very nice form. On Saturday the Honolulu native scored a goal and added an assist for Union Berlin in a 3-3 draw vs. FC Nurnberg. (Watch’s Wood’s goal at 0:40 and assist at 1:11 of the clip below.)

In 14 appearances so far for Union Berlin, Wood has registered five goals and two assists. His scoring ratio is a respectable one goal for every 278 minutes, a figure that’s trending upward.

Wood might need to be even better, however, to help lift Union Berlin, which is just three points from safety in the 2.Bundesliga.

Three Youngsters show well

Ethan Horvath, finishing his first season as Molde’s No. 1 keeper, posted a shutout in a 3-0 win over IK Start. The Colorado native now can turn his full attention to the Europa League, in which Molde has already clinched a spot in the knockout stage.

Stade de Reims forward Jordan Siebatcheu, meanwhile, continues to raise his game and showcase himself as a tri-national to watch. The 19-year-old Washington, D.C., native was substituted into Saturday’s Ligue 1 game against Ajaccio and picked up an assist in a 2-1 loss.

Additionally, Gedion Zelalem returned to Rangers’ starting lineup in a 4-0 win over last-place Alloa Athletic. The U.S. U-23 teenager earned rave reviews as Rangers remained at the top of the Scottish Championship table with 12 wins in 13 games.

Bob Bradley bids farewell

On Sunday, Bob Bradley officially ended his tenure Stabaek after a very successful two years in charge. It wasn’t the ideal way to end his tenure—a 6-1 loss to Bodo/Glimt—but Bradley’s squad had little to play for on the day, having already secured a spot in next year’s Europa League qualifying.

Stabaek finished the season in third place in Norway, and Bradley will leave the country as an extremely popular figure after helping to rebuild a struggling team. One major publication, in fact, has already named him the Tippeligaen manager of the year. Expect the accolades to continue in the weeks ahead.

Next up for Bradley is likely another move inside of Europe. While it hasn’t been made official, multiple reports out of Europe have linked him to Le Havre of France's Ligue 2.

Guzan shuts out Manchester City

It’s been a terrible season for Aston Villa, which right now is dead last in the Premier League with just one win in 12 games.

Guzan, like the rest of his team, has not had the best of seasons, but on Saturday he made three key saves in a surprising scoreless draw against league leaders Manchester City. His best moment came in the 55th minute, when he blocked a close-range Raheem Sterling shot—with his face. 

Carter-Vickers stars in commercial

The hype train continues to roll for U.S. U-23 and Tottenham central defender Cameron Carter Vickers—this time with an Under Armour commercial.

It’s hard to believe he’s just 17-years-old.
