  • Hamburg’s Julian Green picked up a bruised rib in training on Monday. As a result the youngster missed Hamburg’s 1-0 loss to Borrusia Monchengladbach on Wednesday. Fabian Johnson came on as a second-half substitute for Gladbach in the game. Hamburg next face Timmy Chandller’s Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday.

  • Chris Schuler subbed out of Real Salt Lake's 5-1 win over the Colorado Rapids. Head coach Jeff Cassar told the Salt Lake Tribune on Wednesday that Schuler’s adductor tightened up in the previous game against the Seattle Sounders and that the club was being cautious with the player.

  • Teammate Tony Beltran twisted his back in training on Tuesday and was still in discomfort the following day. Cassar said that the Beltran’s condition is day-to-day and that the busy defender will actually benefit from the unplanned rest. "This isn’t a real injury," Cassar said. "It’s more of a hindrance right now, so it’s going to be OK." RSL face the Vancouver Whitecaps on Saturday.

  • On Wednesday RB Leipzig tweeted that striker Terrence Boyd was making good progress. Boyd is expected to be back from the partial ACL tear in his right knee in early October.

  • Geoff Cameron returned to full training on Friday after over two weeks out recovering from a hernia operation, http://prosoccertalk.nbcsports.com/2014/09/25/geoff-cameron-returns-to-full-training-hands-stoke-city-usa-boost/ reported on Thursday. Cameron is not expected to feature against Newcastle United on Monday, but he is expected to play against Sunderland on Oct. 4.

  • Montreal Impact playmaker Justin Mapp was back in training on Wednesday. The midfielder had been dealing with a groin injury since Aug. 16. “I feel fine,” Mapp told MLSsoccer.com after training. “I could probably give a few minutes already. Not much. But hopefully, there are no setbacks with another week under my belt, and I would feel comfortable in a bigger role next weekend.” Head coach Frank Klopas said he expected Mapp to be ready for the team’s trip to the Chicago Fire on Oct. 5.

  • Jermaine Jones was able to shake off the left foot contusion he picked up last week, coming on after halftime in the New England Revolution’s 1-0 loss to the Columbus Crew on Saturday. He was in the Starting XI for New England's match against Sporting Kansas City too.

  • Paul Arriola returned from his foot injury, playing the full 90 minutes of Tijuana’s 1-0 Copa MX win over Chivas Guadalajara on Wednesday. Xolos were already out of contention to advance out of the group stages. The side will next face Veracruz on Friday.

  • Finally, forward Eddie Johnson managed to score within two minutes of subbing on in D.C. United’s 2-0 CONCACAF Champions League victory against Panamanian side Tauro on Wednesday. Johnson, who had missed the team’s previous four games due to concussion symptoms, came on in the 53rd minute wearing a scrum cap for protection. D.C. earned its first trip to the tournament’s quarterfinal with the win.
