"During our current National Team camp, Hope made a poor decision that has resulted in a negative impact on U.S. Soccer and her teammates," U.S. women's national team head coach Jill Ellis said in a statement. The players are going to need to use all their leverage, and the most they have is a strike because that’s the last thing the league wants—to have this new TV deal and these new teams and no games. • Jurgen Klinsmann hopes to recruit Tesho Akindele and Julio Morales for his national team. Each man could play for "The goal is with players like [Akindele] or with Julio Morales or other ones that have come in before is that they get a feeling for our environment, that they get a feeling for their teammates, how things are run with the U.S. program and then down the road they make their decision together with their family," Klinsmann said. "They have to go the direction they feel most comfortable with."

  • Mix Diskerud, businessman: “I studied business in Norway at a university, and obviously there are a lot of good schools in New York,” he said Tuesday. “I’ve been checking out some places I would want to continue that schoolwork because I want to do things off the pitch.”

  • Tommy Thompson:
  • Oh yeah, the U-20s won their match against Trinidad & Tobago, sending them through to a winner-take-all game on Saturday.
