Tim Howard will be NBC’s color commentator alongside Arlo White for the Chelsea vs. Manchester City game Sunday, one day after suiting up for Everton. There’s so much to like about this. If you weren’t planning on tuning in already, you really need to.
KICKTV has its usual high-quality video in the crowd, this time of devastated Panamanian fans at the Estadio Rommel Fernandez during last Tuesday’s thriller. Heartbreaking stuff.
Landon Donovan has a hurt ankle: "I told you it needs six weeks of rest, but, unfortunately, we're not going to get six weeks of rest. So that's the way it goes. Just gotta deal with it."
Steve Goff has U.S. soccer’s 2013 by the numbers. Combined, the men’s and women’s national teams are 27-3-4 with 98 goals for and 30 against in the calendar year. Last year, the two teams were 37-3-6 combined. The men have two games remaining in 2013 while the women have three.
The UEFA World Cup playoffs are set with a couple of solid matchups. Ronaldo vs. Ibrahimovic is the big one as Portugal and Sweden square off. France will play Ukraine, Greece takes on Romania and Iceland faces Croatia. Since the U.S. likely won’t be seeing Bob Bradley and Egypt, we’d gladly settle for the the alternative of a bitter Icelandic team.
