  • The U.S. men will play a friendly against Cuba in Havana on Oct. 7, only the second time in 69 years the two teams are meeting on the island. The only other contest was a World Cup qualifier in 2008. “We are happy to have the chance to bring our team to Cuba,” Klinsmann said. “In addition to good competition, we are always looking for our group to have different experiences, and this is a unique opportunity.”

  • Julian Green wrote about his “positive” 2015-16 season with Bayern Munich and the U.S. national team. “Of course, I would have liked being called up more times for the first team. I know I have the potential to prove myself in the Bundesliga,” Green said.

  • Matt Besler says he didn’t train at left back ahead of his start against Ecuador, but enjoyed the experience. “Defending-wise, you can take more chances,” he said. “You can try to go and win a ball 1-v-1, because if you get beat, there's people behind you to help.”
