  • It was a big night for the Seattle Sounders. The squad went out and beat the Chicago Fire 6-0 in the semifinals of the U.S. Open Cup. Andy Rose and Kenny Cooper each scored two goals. The Sounders, who are appearing in their fifth final since 2009, will face the Philadelphia Union, who always seem to do well in this thing, on September 16.

  • Before that, the team sold wonderboy DeAndre Yedlin to Tottenham Hotspurs for $3.5 million. "I first want to thank everyone involved in my development. From my family to youth coaches to the Sounders, I am lucky to have such a strong support system," the player said in a soundbyte worthy of the EPL. "I'm excited to have the opportunity to play with Spurs in the English Premier League, and I look forward to helping the Sounders win a championship this season." Adrian Hanauer, the Sounders general manager, vows to "do right" by his players. Yedlin will stay with the team through the 2014 season and possibly beyond. Thoughts?:

  • Tim Howard is huge in the new FIFA 2015 game and had a lot of fun making it: "Howard had scheduled a family vacation in Florida earlier in the month, but he was able to squeeze in a trip north a week before his Aug. 3 return to England. It was the first time he'd touched a ball since the Americans were eliminated in Salvador, Brazil. 'I jumped at the opportunity, although I know I'll be a little sore tomorrow,' Howard told ESPN FC on July 25, the day of the shoot. 'Goalkeepers always get the short end of the stick, so the fact that they're revamping the position and asking me to help was pretty special.'"

  • There's a lot wrong with the world right now, but this is all right:
