  • D.C. United gets a stadium deal. The New York Times loves the idea and what it might do for renewal in the area: "Under the plan, the D.C. United team and the District government will split the cost evenly. If all goes as planned, the stadium will be completed in 2017. The District’s half will go toward land acquisition and related infrastructure improvements, while D.C. United will pay to build the stadium itself." Vice Sports less so. (Read the Vice piece.)

  • Sacha Kljestan scores a look what I found goal, which are the best goals:
  • John Brooks was like "I can do better":
  • The United States U-18 team defeated Germany 2-1. The starting goalkeeper made six saves and was red carded. That starting goalkeeper's name? Jonathan Klinsmann.

  • Would you like to know more about Ashton Götz, the potential next German-American to play for the red, white, and blue? "I’ve thought about playing for the USA a lot of times. It’s a really, really nice country. For me it is very interesting. The Olympics would also be interesting, for sure. But it’s not that easy to get a passport. We’ve thought about it. I’ve never spoken with my father. I don’t know him. He lives now in New York. That’s all I know."

  • Chris Wondolowski on that miss: “In that moment. I was just gutted. It was just such an empty feeling. It was like the Southwest commercial—‘You want to get away.’ It had been so amazing, such a fun ride, but all of a sudden it was over, and it ended like this. I just wanted to be somewhere else.”
