John Branch has a long, important article in The New York Times regarding CTE: "Chronic traumatic encephalopathy, the degenerative brain disease linked to repeated blows to the head, has been found posthumously in a 29-year-old former soccer player, the strongest indication yet that the condition is not limited to athletes who played sports known for violent collisions, like football and boxing."
Alejandro Guido scored for second-division Dorados, the lower-league affiliate of Tijuana. That's his first professional goal. Paul Arriola also went 90 minutes. He, sadly, did not score.
Can Nelson Rodriguez save Chivas USA? Major League Soccer sure hopes so. Don Garber's former lieutenant is the new president of the wayward club.
Speaking of MLS, the reserve league will field only eight teams. Portland, meanwhile, continues to get over 10,000 to turn out to reserve league matches.
We shall see. We shall see.
Will Eric Wynalda sign him?
